The Information Resource Center (IRC) provides comprehensive information resources for the The University of Iowa, College of Public Health's Department of Occupational and Environmental Health faculty, students, and staff. The IRC journal and book collection focuses on faculty interests of injury prevention, ergonomics, occupational safety, occupational and agricultural medicine, industrial hygiene, pesticides and environmental health. Resources also include web-based databases and extensive literature searching capability. The IRC currently has a collection of approximately 850 monographs and 40 journals.

Online databases are an important component of the IRC's reference service. IRC users have access to hundreds of online databases and resources, including NIOSHTIC-2, OVID, PUBMED, the Science Citation Index, and TOXLINE. The information specialist is available during the listed hours for assistance or instruction in utilizing these resources.

The information specialist also conducts information searches. OEH personnel can request interlibrary loans (for both journal articles and books), database searches and literature reviews related to toxicology, ergonomics, injury prevention, occupational and environmental health, agricultural safety and health, and other areas as needed.
