After finishing undergraduate work in Pre-Health Sciences at Central College in Pella, IA, I spent two and a half years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya, East Africa working as a public health and sanitation extentionist.  I finished my MS in Epidemiology in 2007 and have been working for Dr. Gregory Gray in the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases since 2004.  I am beginning my doctoral studies in Industrial Hygiene and am interested in maintaining a focus in infectious disease epidemiology as it pertains to occupational and environmental exposures, particularly within the agricultural industry.  My career goals include, though not limited to, working in private industry and academia.
