Industrial Hygiene
Industrial Hygiene is the anticipation, recognition,
evaluation and control of health hazards in the workplace and the
broader community. Although it may seem that some
workplace settings are more hazardous than others, virtually every
occupation has some exposure to health risks, whether the setting
is an office or a construction site.
Concerns about hazards to workers are hardly new.
The field of Industrial Hygiene is relatively new, however, gaining
a great deal of momentum with the passage of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act (OSHA) in 1970. Since then, demand for industrial
hygienists has continued to grow, making this an excellent career
choice for many.
