The University of Iowa offers a multitude of health services and wellness opportunities. The University of Iowa Student Health Services (SHS) offers a primary-care facility that includes eight family practice physicians, two psychiatrists, one gynecologist, and two physician assistants. Located in the Westlawn Building on Newton Road, the SHS mission is to provide comprehensive and quality care to each and every student at The University of Iowa.
The University is home to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics — recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States and Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center. More than 760 staff physicians and dentists; 480 resident physicians and dentists; 180 fellow physicians; 1,565 nurses; and 4,640 other professional and support staff provide specialized care in the 680-bed comprehensive academic medical center and regional referral center.
The University of Iowa Division of Recreational Services offers recreation opportunities to the University community. A variety of programs are available for all ages, serving UI students, faculty, staff, and members of the surrounding community.
