This two and one‐half day workshop is designed to familiarize participants with all facets of occupational hearing conservation and prepare them as audiometric technicians. Upon completion, a certificate will be awarded which documents their training. At the end of the course, students will take the exam for certification as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). For those who require nursing CEUs, this course will award 23.7 contact hours (2.37 CEUs).

Laura Kauth earned degrees in English, biology, and psychology at the University of Iowa, and completed her Masters in audiology in 2000. Originally employed as both a clinical and occupational audiologist, she moved to independent consulting in hearing loss prevention in 2010. She is an active and enthusiastic member of the National Hearing Conservation Association, having served on its Executive Council for several years, including as President. In her free time, she engages in guerilla audiology, accosting friends, family, and random strangers with earplugs and education.
