Cass County Memorial Hospital is among six businesses to receive a grant from the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health which announced it Business Leadership Network Community Grants this week.

The UI College of Public Health through the Iowa Institute of Public Health Research and Policy inaugurated the Business Leadership Network Community Grant Project in 2015 to support projects, programs, and activities that build collaborations and support community well-being. Additional support from the UI Provost’s Office of Outreach and Engagement, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, and the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust is funding the community grant project.

CCMH received the award for its Walk Cass County project which aims to expand and encourage walking as a way to connect families and friends while gaining health benefits. “Through their Healthy Cass County division, they will work to provide walking maps with routes of varying lengths in each of the county’s eight cities to help residents become more active,” University officials said.

The recipients will receive cash grant awards of up to $3,000.
