Celebrate Black excellence and achievements

Published on February 3, 2021

Black History Month graphicHappy Black History Month, Hawkeye Family!

Each week in February the College of Public Health Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee will host an online activity designed to engage folks in discussions of Black excellence and achievements…and each week people who participate will be eligible to win a gift certificate to a local Black-owned business in a random prize drawing!

How will it work? Each Monday in February we will email a discussion prompt and link to a Padlet discussion board. Everyone will have a week to post something related to the week’s theme. Padlet posts are like sticky notes on an online board. You can write comments, post pictures or videos, link to something online. You can really get creative!

At the end of each week, we will randomly draw two participants to receive a $25 gift certificate to a local Black-owned business. All you need to do is post on the Padlet board to be eligible for a prize. Here are some more details:

  • This is open to everyone—CPH students, staff, faculty and Iowa community members.
  • There’s only one chance to win a prize each week; however, you are welcome to contribute to the Padlet discussion board as many times as you want.
  • Winners for each week will be announced via email.
  • The deadline to post on each week’s Padlet is Sunday at noon.

Ready to get started?
