In 1977 Wendell Berry published The Unsettling of America: Culture and Agriculture, a book that started a national and international conversation on the state of agriculture in the United States.

The mission of the Berry Center,  led by executive director Mary Berry, is to continue the work of Wendell Berry by bringing focus, knowledge, and cohesiveness to the work of changing the ruinous industrial agriculture system into a culture that uses nature as the standard, that accepts no permanent damage to the ecosphere, and that takes into consideration human health in local communities.

A “Coffee with Mary Berry” event will take place Saturday, Nov. 15, from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Java House, 211 E Washington St. in Iowa City.

Please stop by to meet Ms. Berry, learn about the important work of the Berry Center, and welcome her to Iowa City!
