Why do I love being a part of the University of Iowa College of Public Health? One of the reasons is regular access to public health experts. In October, the UI College of Public Health welcomed Dr. Camara Jones – our college’s 2017 Richard and Barbara Hansen Leadership Award Recipient. Dr. Jones’s inspiring lecture titled, “Achieving Health Equity: Tools for a National Campaign Against Racism,” can be viewed online here. Dr. Jones seeks to bring critical attention to the social determinants of health (including poverty) and the social determinants of equity (including racism).
