MercyOne Elkader Medical Center CEO Brooke Kensinger received the Iowa Hospital Association’s (IHA) 2021 Young Executive Achievement Award at the association’s virtual annual meeting held October 5-7. The award recognizes up-and-coming health care executives, age 40 or younger, who have made a significant contribution to health care in the state of Iowa.

In letters supporting her nomination, Kensinger was praised for her leadership that inspires “a sense of commitment and empowerment among colleagues that has paved the way for excellent service and organizational successes. She works hard for her rural community and the entire state. Kensinger has steadfast dedication and unwavering commitment to health care.”

Kensinger commented.  "The board, medical staff and colleagues walk right alongside with me to improve daily so that we are meeting the needs of our community.  The community needs have been in a constant state of change since the pandemic began.  This award is for them too! I am so proud to be their leader."
