Jasmine Mangrum, a Doctor of Pharmacy and Masters of Public Health student, was selected as a 2017-18 Fulbright U.S. Student Award Finalist.

Mangrum will utilize this award to develop an understanding of tobacco cessation education among student pharmacists in Romania with her project, entitled, “Increasing the Role of Pharmacists in Smoking Cessation in Romania: Preparation and Perceptions of Student Pharmacists.”

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program of the United States. Mangrum will represent the country as a cultural ambassador, and help to enhance mutual understanding between Americans and the people in Romania. She will join over 100,000 Fulbright U.S. Student Program alumni who have undertaken grants since the program began in 1948.

In 2016, Iowa was recognized as a top producer of Fulbright Scholars. Mangrum is the first University of Iowa College of Pharmacy recipient of this prestigious award.
