Peter Thorne presents at President’s Cancer Panel

Peter Thorne, University of Iowa professor of occupational and environmental health, delivered an invited presentation on June 8, 2026, to the President’s Cancer Panel in Rockville, Maryland. Thorne’s presentation was part of a two-day public meeting called “Modifiable Risk Factors for Cancer: Opportunities for Prevention,” which explored lifestyle and environmental risk factors for cancers, including early-onset cancers, and identified potential approaches to reduce cancer risk.
Thorne spoke on “Environmental Risk Factors for Cancer: Agricultural and Occupational Exposures.”
The President’s Cancer Panel was established by the National Cancer Act of 1971. The panel is charged with monitoring the development and execution of the activities of the National Cancer Program and reporting to the President on progress, efficacy, and opportunities for improvement.
