All College of Public Health faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend a PechaKucha event engaging the Iowa City community in a conversation about health on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The event, called “Health in All – IC,” will be moderated by Iowa Public Radio host Ben Kieffer. It will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at MERGE, 136 S. Dubuque Street, adjacent to the Iowa City Public Library in downtown Iowa City. Light refreshments will be provided.
CPH presenters will highlight a variety of public health issues at the intersection of health and current events. Presenters and topics include:
- Brandi Janssen: sustainability and agriculture
- Kurayi Mahachi: ticks and disease transmission
- Matt Nonnenmann: virus transmission
- Shannon Watkins: e-cigarettes and other tobacco products
- George Wehby: minimum wage and child health
PechaKucha (Japanese for “chit chat”) is a visual storytelling platform used by millions around the globe. Here’s how it works: 20 slides, 20 seconds of commentary per slide. That’s it. Simple. Engaging. Spurring authentic connections.
MERGE Iowa City – 136 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City, IA 52240. Located in the heart of Downtown Iowa City in the pedestrian mall, near the playset outside of the Iowa City Public Library at the corner of Dubuque and College streets.
We recommend the Dubuque Street parking ramp due to its close proximity to MERGE. The rate is free for the first hour, $1 for each additional hour. This is the case with all parking garages in Downtown Iowa City. There is free street parking a few blocks away, and metered parking has 2-hour limits.
