Students encouraged to take the Speak Out Iowa survey

Published on February 3, 2021

Speak Out Iowa is a campus survey being conducted by the University of Iowa to examine sexual misconduct occurring on campus, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking. All degree-seeking undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are encouraged to complete the survey.

The information gathered from this survey will be used to make our campus safer for students by supporting our ongoing efforts to address sexual misconduct on campus and in our community. Even if this issue has not personally impacted you or someone you know, your thoughts about how we can make our community safer and more responsive to sexual misconduct are very important to us.

  • Participation in the survey is completely voluntary.
  • It takes about 15 minutes to complete.
  • Compensation for participating is available.
  • You can visit the survey website speakout.uiowa.edu to learn more about the survey and find a link to take the survey.
  • You also should have received (or will receive) an email with a link to the survey.
  • If you or someone you know needs resources or supports for sexual harassment, dating violence, stalking, or sexual violence, you can find a list of campus and community resources on the speakout.uiowa.edu website.

If you have any other questions about the survey, you can contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Life (vp-student-life@uiowa.edu).
