How can I share data with guests or collaborators outside the University of Iowa?

Article ID: KB40377

There are several options available for sharing data with collaborators from institutions outside the University of Iowa:

  • Upload the data to a shared OneDrive folder. Please see ITS KB106381 for further details on sharing data in OneDrive. For questions about storing sensitive data in OneDrive, please refer to ITS KB102162.
  • Contact CPH IT to request an SFTP account for the collaborator. The collaborator will be able to upload or download data by connecting to the College of Public Health's SFTP server using SFTP client software such as Filezilla. The SFTP data can be made accessible to faculty/staff on the College of Public Health U drive.
  • Request a HawkID using the form at https://iam.uiowa.edu/accounts. This will be useful when the collaborator will need access to certain resources like the University of Iowa VPN or SharePoint
  • See ITS KB103531 for additional options.

Please contact CPH IT if you have any questions or are not certain which option is most appropriate for your situation.
