Frank Durham and Rachel Young, both from UI’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication, team up for this Research Week workshop on writing op-ed pieces.

Frank is director of the master’s program in strategic communication. He has extensive experience teaching persuasive writing and has published many commentaries and op-eds. Frank will lay out the steps to crafting a persuasive op-ed.

Rachel holds an MPH as well as a PhD in mass communication; her specific expertise is in health communication. She will discuss the complexities of writing about health issues for a general audience.
