This summer a group of CPH volunteers helped make milkweed “seed bombs” in an effort to support monarch butterflies, whose numbers have declined dramatically over the last decade.

Monarch Butterfly The seed balls were handed out to RAGBRAI  riders as they passed through Mount Vernon July 24. The riders tossed the balls into unsprayed roadside ditches where the milkweed plants can grow, providing food and habitat for the migrating butterflies.
