The College of Public Health works in partnership with colleagues across many disciplines to promote the health of communities and populations.
The college's highly productive slate of research activities provides evidence and data to help shape policy, guide treatments, and address pressing health concerns. College of Public Health faculty, staff, and students consistently generate an impressive stream of grant funding. In 2009-2010, the College garnered $39.2 million in external funding. Faculty proudly publish results in peer-reviewed publications, guide the college's many interdisciplinary centers and institutes, and mentor students in their research careers.
The Research Office seeks to: promote public health research throughout the college and University; facilitate research activities by way of communication with faculty, staff, and students; and work with the college's Executive Committee and College of Public Health Research Council in shaping the college's research mission.

As of 2002, the College of Public Health faculty passed a resolution that prohibits the college from accepting any grant or anything else of value from any tobacco manufacturer, distributor, or other tobacco-related company.
