Learning Objectives

Upon attending the ‘Health, United States: Data for Programs and Policies’ seminar, attendees will be able to:

  1. Use the Congressionally-mandated Health, United States annual report to
    • Monitor trends in the nation’s health
    • Evaluate progress in meeting national health objectives
    • Set research and program priorities
    • Develop policies and programs
  2. Evaluate national trends and state variation in key public health indicators including:
    • Mortality Rates
    • Reproductive Health Measures
    • Behavioral Risk Factors
    • Health Care Access Indicators
  3. Apply knowledge and data to public health issues in Iowa
  4. Navigate Health, United States web applications
  5. Use the Health Indicators Warehouse (HIW) federal data hub to access selected indicators at the national, state and county levels.
