Barry Greene, Professor Emeritus and former head of the Department of Health Management and Policy (2005–2010), died on Dec. 13, 2025, in Iowa City.

According to his obituary, Dr. Greene was known for building accredited programs, strengthening curriculum across disciplines, mentoring faculty, and advocating for the integration of mental health services into health administration education. In 2011, he received the Filerman Prize for Educational Leadership, the highest honor bestowed by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration.
