Zahnd comments on effects of Medicaid cuts in rural areas
U.S. residents in rural communities throughout the country could see their access to health care diminish if Congress changes eligibility for Medicaid or significantly reduces its federal funding. "This is something that’s going to impact [rural residents] more than those in urban areas, and that’s on top of the already lower access to care, higher need for care, older populations," says Whitney Zahnd, assistant professor of health management and policy. Sharma comments on supplemental Medicaid payments for Indiana nursing homes
Hari Sharma, assistant professor of health management and policy, led a study that that analyzed cost reports for Indiana's nursing homes from 2009 to 2017 in an effort to gauge the impact of supplemental Medicaid payments.
