Atchison to serve on Public Health Accreditation Board

Christopher Atchison, clinical professor emeritus of health management and policy and director emeritus of the State Hygienic Laboratory, has been elected to the board of directors of the Public Health Accreditation Board. He will serve a one-year term as secretary/treasurer.

In addition to his academic appointments, Atchison also served on the Iowa Prevention of Disabilities Policy Council, co-chaired the Partnership for Better Health, and was on the board of the Child and Family Policy Center and on the Steering Committee for the National Academy of State Health Policy. He served as Director of the Iowa Department of Public Health (1991-1999) and was the inaugural chair of the Iowa Child Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP).
