Bicycle safety studies highlighted

Published on August 4, 2014

A newsletter produced by the U.S. Department of Transportation features the work of Injury Prevention Research Center researcher Cara Hamann and colleagues. The researchers are conducting studies that examine drivers’ behaviors around bicycles.

One of the projects uses crash and injury records to identify typical crash scenarios involving vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians. In recent work,  Hamann also has fitted bicycle helmets with cameras to record bicyclist and traffic activity during everyday bicycle trips.
