We are pleased to announce that Dr. Carly Armour, graduate student success administrator in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health, has been honored by the University of Iowa Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology for championing digital accessibility on campus.

The CAFÉ Barista award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting digital accessibility within their departmental materials and course sites. Dr. Armour completed a comprehensive training and submitted evidence of meeting accessibility standards, making her the first CAFÉ Barista among a growing cohort of campus digital accessibility champions.

A proud alumna of the University of Iowa’s Educational Policy and Leadership Studies in Higher Education and Student Affairs doctoral program and recipient of the 2021 ASHE National Disability Leadership Award, Dr. Armour has collaborated closely with faculty members to enhance accessibility in their course materials and was the first in the College of Public Health to create a fully accessible digital departmental student handbook.

Faculty and staff who are interested in enhancing their accessibility skills are encouraged to take advantage of the Course Accessibility for Everyone (CAFÉ) training, available through the ‘My Training’ portal in UI Self Service.
