Cavanaugh appointed interim head of biostatistics

Professor Joseph Cavanaugh has been named interim head of the UI Department of Biostatistics. He succeeds Kathryn Chaloner, who passed away in October 2014. Cavanaugh joined the College of Public Health faculty in 2003 and holds a secondary appointment in the UI Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science.  He serves as director of graduate studies for the Department of Biostatistics, has been honored with the College of Public Health Faculty Teaching Award and Faculty Service Award, and is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

“I am pleased that Joe Cavanaugh has accepted the position of Interim DEO of Biostatistics,” says CPH Dean Sue Curry. “Joe’s leadership abilities are clearly recognized and appreciated by his fellow faculty, as well as students, staff, and alumni. I am delighted to welcome him to our college’s leadership team.”
