Kang was assigned as ambassador to the S M Sehgal Foundation in India

Kang is pleased to share that he has been appointed as an ambassador to the S M Sehgal Foundation, an Indian rural development NGO founded in 1999. He previously collaborated with the foundation during the India Winterim program, led by the University of Iowa and Purdue University, where he conducted microbiological tests to assess drinking water safety according to WHO standards. Recognizing his dedication to addressing water scarcity in rural India, the foundation invited him to serve as an ambassador. In this role, Kang will advocate for the foundation’s activities and promote the India Winterim program.

Kang’s passion for serving rural areas has continued in the U.S. During a summer internship with Wapello County Public Health in Iowa, he led a community health assessment to identify local health disparities using mixed-methods approaches. The project revealed higher child poverty, adult obesity, and declining life expectancy compared to statewide averages, and his findings were accepted for presentation at the American College of Epidemiology 2025 Annual Meeting. This work reflects Kang’s commitment to improving rural health both globally and domestically, bridging international and U.S. perspectives to reduce inequities.
