Iowa City to host local March Against Rape Culture

Published on March 20, 2018

The Iowa City chapter of the National March Against Rape Culture will hold a local event in downtown Iowa City on Saturday, April 7. More details can be found on the national march website.

The Iowa City event will take place in three parts:

  • 9 – 10:30 a.m. Opening rally featuring speakers, a post-card writing station, and an informational table for community organizations to display promotional materials.
  • 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. March around the downtown Iowa City area.
  • Noon – 2 p.m. Teach-ins and workshops on related topics.

The Iowa City chapter is currently looking for student groups, community members, and local organizations who would be interested in participating, organizing, or cosponsoring this event. Specifically, the team is looking for new team members to assist in event coordination, speakers to present at our opening rally, and proposals/volunteers for the teach-in section of the event. However, any kind of assistance or input would be greatly appreciated!

If you or your organization would be interested in volunteering, or have questions about getting involved, please contact Elena Greene, acting chair for the Iowa City chapter of the National March Against Rape Culture, at elena-greene@uiowa.edu or 314-295-6561.
