National Academy of Medicine honors Sepúlveda for outstanding service

Martín-José Sepúlveda, MD, FACP, recently received the Walsh McDermott Medal, which recognizes a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAM) for distinguished service to the NAM over an extended period.

Sepúlveda, distinguished university professor at Florida International University, is an alumnus of the University of Iowa. He completed a fellowship in internal medicine and occupational medicine in 1985, then went on to a three-decade career in health leadership at IBM. He served as a member of the College of Public Health’s Board of Advisors, and the External Advisory Committee of the UI Health Workforce Center for Excellence. The University of Iowa awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Science degree in 2017. Read more about the NAM honor here.
