    • Students will attended these posters during designated events during a designated poster session
  • Presentation:  The “3-Minute Thesis” format will be used
    • 10 students will be selected to summarize their thesis

3-Minute Thesis Format

The 3-Minute Thesis presentation concept is modeled off a competition begun at the University of Queensland, Australia, and is now conducted across the U.S., including the University of Iowa. The simple rules are as follows:

  • A speaker is allowed one PowerPoint slide which remains on the screen throughout the presentation
  • The speaker has to be finished in 3 minutes
  • The presentation is meant to be an engaging explanation of the research accomplished or to be accomplished
  • The presentation should be understandable to a non-specialist audience
  • The presentations will not be judged (so no pressure)

Guidance and suggestions can be found by clicking on the “10. Guide for Students” at this page. To view examples, videos of past winners of the UI competition can be found at the bottom of that website.

This conference is co-sponsored by the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health, the Healthier Workforce Center for Excellence the Heartland Center for Occupational Health and Safety, the Injury Prevention Research Center, and the CPH Department of Occupational and Environmental Health.
