Public health researchers needed to address Iowa’s cancer risk

Researchers are invited to apply for the Reducing Iowa’s Cancer Risk through Novel Collaborations Ideas Lab (Jan. 12–14, 2026). It’s a three-day, highly interactive event designed to spark cross-disciplinary collaborations and novel research directions—no cancer expertise required. Applications are due Oct. 31.

Participation could lead to new research ideas, proposals, and funding opportunities for researchers. A few things for potential applicants to note:

  • Participants don’t need to be cancer or genetics experts—diverse perspectives are essential.
  • It’s a chance to connect with colleagues from very different fields and build new collaborations.
  • The format is highly interactive and creative, not a traditional academic workshop.
  • The Ideas Lab is designed to seed ideas that can be advanced through mechanisms like the Large Grant Development Opportunity, creating pathways to significant external funding.
