It is the only public health program taught completely in English in Central and Eastern Europe.

The degree programs were developed in collaboration with faculty from the University of Iowa, including Drs. James Merchant (former Dean of the University of Iowa College of Public Health), Dr. Thomas Cook, and Dr. Corinne Peek-Asa, who all attended the formal launch of the school in 2010. The public health degree programs at Babes-Bolyai University are modeled after the College of Public Health (CPH) at the University of Iowa. Two faculty members from CPH have taught courses for this undergraduate degree program; Dr. Anne Wallis taught Introduction to Epidemiology, and David Osterberg taught Environmental Health Policy.
