Lisa Roth of the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center was recently honored with an award from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. She was recognized for her leadership and dedication to the field of traffic safety as well as her work to substantially improve the Child Passenger Safety program (CPS) in Iowa.

Roth was instrumental in the development and implementation of the CPS program that has trained and certified more than 500 people throughout Iowa to become program technicians and instructors. These individuals conduct child safety seat checks where parents and caregivers receive hands-on assistance for proper use of child restraint systems and safety belts. Roth has been a certified technician instructor for more than 15 years.
