Sue Curry Comments on Recommendations for Preventing Youth Smoking
Published on September 5, 2013
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recently recommended that pediatricians and other doctors get involved to try to prevent children from smoking.
“[Interventions] can be conversations, telephone counseling, video and written materials to youth and adolescents in their practices,” says Sue Curry, CPH dean and a member of the task force.
Recent studies show intervening early can help lower the chances that a young person will start smoking by almost 20 percent.
