Working at Iowa 2020 survey results

Published on February 24, 2021

The Working at Iowa biennial survey is a critical tool that helps guide the College of Public Health’s efforts to create a positive and productive work culture, contributes to understanding our strengths, and identifies opportunities for improvement.

A few items of college-wide importance from the survey include:

  • The College of Public Health participation rate remains high – 73.1% overall (73.8% faculty, 72.9% staff; compared to 68.3% UI) – and reflects our culture of participation and engagement.
  • 99% of CPH faculty and staff report that they know what is expected of them at work.
  • 99% stated their supervisor treats them with respect.
  • 98% understand how their job fits the overall mission of the University.
  • 98% said their work units have a strong focus on providing excellent service to those with whom they interact.
  • 97% reported that individuals in their work units are civil and respectful to each other.

The complete survey results will be shared with DEOs and governance representatives within the college. In addition, departments within the college will share individual departmental survey results with faculty and staff. This survey is just one part of an ongoing process of continuous improvement that we strive for.

Thanks to all of you for your participation and for the invaluable contributions you make every day to strengthen our college and university community.
