Author Barbara Ehrenreich to read from her book exploring wellness and mortality

The University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program has selected Barbara Ehrenreich as the recipient of the 2019 Krause Essay Prize for her book-length exploration of mortality, Natural Causes: An Epidemic of Wellness, the Certainty of Dying, and Killing Ourselves to Live Longer.

Ehrenreich, author of numerous books including the New York Times bestseller Nickel and Dimed, will be honored on Wednesday, Oct.30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Capitol Senate Chamber, where she will read from her winning work. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

An essayist, journalist, and activist, Ehrenreich has a PhD in cellular immunology from Rockefeller University and often writes about health care and medical science.
