CAHME Mentorship Circle logoThe University of Iowa College of Publc Health’s Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program in the Department of Health Management and Policy is among the initial inductees to the Mentorship Circle of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

The Mentorship Circle designation recognizes programs that demonstrate a commitment to excellence not only to their own programs, but across the broader field of graduate health care management education, and provide opportunities to other students and other programs to advance their experiences and skills for the good of the health care field.

“We are delighted to be one of 14 inaugural programs to be recognized for our efforts to not only continuously improve our own MHA program at Iowa, but also to share what we are doing with the field,” says Dan Gentry, clinical professor and director of the UI’s MHA program. “As one of the universities where health administration education began, we feel a special obligation to disseminate our potential best practices, successes, and continuing challenges.”

According to Gentry, the program is specifically committed to sharing its efforts at competency-based education and competency assessment for continuing student development and program improvement.

The UI was also recently named one of eight winners in 2017 of the inaugural CAHME/Aramark Innovation Grants, which recognize programs and initiatives that that support participation of health care management students in research, seminars, case study competitions, and other related activities.
