Biomedical research has been entering the big data era in which large sets of data are collected rapidly. In order to tackle the challenges of big data, the research in bioinformatics/biostatistics needs new thoughts and solutions. Network is a natural way to model the web of relationships formed by biological players including genes and gene products. Network analysis thus plays a significant role in understanding the complex biological systems: it can be used either to model the complicated structure of biological data, or to interpret the biology significance of bioinformatics/biostatistics analysis results.  In this talk, I will present examples of network modeling and analysis in systems biology. These examples show that patterns learned from network analysis are better ones for biology interpretation.
