Evidence that many study results cannot be replicated has led to public concerns about a “reproducibility crisis”.  Although clinical trials use rigorous methods to minimize bias, this presentation will show that trial results are sensitive to decisions about the methods to collect data, define outcomes, and analyze results.  It will highlight how greater transparency and openness might reduce reporting bias and increase the trustworthiness of health research.  Additionally, it will identify some limitations of “open science” and propose advances in clinical trial methods that would increase reproducibility and credibility.
