Make your voice heard — take the 2020 Campus Climate Survey

On Monday, Sept. 21, faculty, staff, and postdoctoral scholars and fellows received an email for the 2020 Campus Climate Survey. The survey helps the university better understand the campus climate pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion; establish a baseline for measuring change; advance work taking place on campus; and ensure people of all identities feel welcome and supported. The survey is open through Oct. 2.

Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students will not take this survey, but instead will be asked to complete the SERU survey during the spring 2021 semester.

Results from the Campus Climate Survey will give colleges and the university a current view of campus climate to help facilitate dialogue among its faculty and staff and to assist with diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic planning efforts.

Your experiences matter. By taking the survey, you can help create a stronger university.

  • Improving the campus climate requires sustained, community-wide effort. This work is critical to the future success of our university.
  • The inclusion of more voices unquestionably produces better solutions to complex problems. In order to continue recruiting the best minds, we must cultivate an educational climate that supports all who come to the university.
  • The University of Iowa’s status as one of the United States’ leading research universities demands the robust exchange of ideas. The diversity of our students, faculty, and staff allows us to accomplish our mission which is why we are committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment for all who join the UI community.
  • When faculty and staff share concerns, it is our job to listen and determine what changes we might need to make to improve our campus climate.
  • We’re ready for the challenge. There is energy on campus to roll up our sleeves and get to work.
