Summer course: Maternal Health in Migrant Communities
The College of Public Health is pleased to offer a brand-new faculty-led global program for summer 2025. Led by Drs. Nichole Nidey and Jonathan Platt, this four-week course will include instruction in Iowa City, as well as one week of travel to Costa Rica. Gilbert comments on alcohol consumption in Iowa

Elizabeth O’Neal, assistant professor of community and behavioral health, says costumed kids get excited — and distracted — while trick-or-treating, and that can be a dangerous combination when it comes to crossing a street. Bill Field, Katie Jones honored at the Iowa Cancer Summit
CPH alumni Bill Field (94PhD) and Katie Jones (12MPH) were recently honored at the Iowa Cancer Summit for their work. Field was posthumously awarded the George Weiner Cancer Control Visionary Award and Jones received the Spirit of Collaboration Award for connecting cancer control partners across the state for over a decade. Iowa researchers receive NAMI grant to evaluate best practices in mental health engagement
A team of University of Iowa researchers led by Ebonee Johnson, assistant professor of community and behavioral health, has received a $50,000 grant from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to evaluate effective engagement with diverse populations among NAMI affiliates.
