Alumnus Steve Simonin receives NOSORH Community Stars Award

In partnership with the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH), the Iowa Office of Rural Health and its valued partners are thrilled to announce the recipient of this year’s prestigious “Community Stars” award. The Community Star recipient is for those individuals and organizations making a significant difference in the health and well-being of the communities they serve. 

With great pleasure, we recognize Steve Simonin (90MA), the CEO of Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics, as recipient of the 2023 NOSORH Community Stars Award. Steve’s remarkable 27-year leadership journey has left an indelible mark on healthcare in Wright County and a network of clinics across Central and North Central Iowa. Throughout his tenure as President and CEO, Steve Simonin steered Iowa Specialty Hospitals & Clinics through remarkable growth, earning him recognition as one of the twenty most influential healthcare leaders. His dedication extends beyond the walls of the hospital, as he actively contributes to the improvement of wellness throughout the community. 

“The Iowa Rural Health Association (IRHA) has benefited from Steve’s healthcare experience. He serves on our Board where he displays leadership, innovation, and humor. During the IRHA’s Health Equity/Disparities Initiative, Iowa Specialty Hospital successfully prioritized health and social needs and collaborated with community leaders. Congratulations, Steve!”  The Community Star award will be presented to Steve Simonin by Samra Hiros from the Iowa Office of Rural Health during the Awards Ceremony at the “Count Me In” Conference on Oct. 18, 2023.
