Applications sought for Social Justice Sprince Zwerling Scholarship

The Social Justice Sprince Zwerling Scholarship will be given to a distinguished, well-deserving graduate student in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health, who is pursuing an interest in addressing health disparities and alleviating social injustice.  It is intended to acknowledge students who are in their second or later year of study.

Criteria

The CBH Student Award Committee will review the applications based on the following criteria:

  • Good academic standing, and high academic achievement
  • Making reasonable progress towards their degree.
  • Research involvement, community engagement and/or professional activities
  • Professional goals as relates to alleviating social injustice

Application

Application submissions are due by March 22, 2023.  Please email applications to elia-farias@uiowa.edu with the subject line “Sprince Zwerling Scholarship Application.”

All submissions must include an essay, and a resume or curriculum vitae. The essay can be up to 1,000 words and asks applicants to describe accomplishments and career goals, specifically indicating how you anticipate your education will be used to improve social justice of the communities you will serve.  Your resume or CV should include specific research involvement, professional activities and / or community engagement relevant to social justice.
