Student-run workshop introduces girls to biostatistics, math, and coding
Last month, several graduate students from the Department of Biostatistics held an introductory coding and biostatistics workshop with fourth through sixth grade girls participating in the Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County’s (NCJC) after school program in Iowa City. Herky parades across campus (including CPHB)
This year, 23 new Herky statues have been placed across campus as part of the 2024 rendition of Herky on Parade. The statues, which were unveiled on May 1, include the Colors of Courage Herky placed near the College of Public Health Building and sponsored by Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Researchers study self-driving vehicles, young pedestrians, and road-crossing
In a new study, University of Iowa researchers investigated how pre-teenage children determined when it was safe to cross a residential street with oncoming self-driving cars. The study was co-authored by Jodie Plumert, professor of psychological and brain sciences, and Elizabeth O’Neal, assistant professor of community and behavioral health.
