HMP alumna Adaeze Enekwechi named president of IMPAQ

Health Management and Policy alumna Adaeze Enekwechi (07PhD) has been named president of IMPAQ, the parent organization of three companies: IMPAQ International, a public policy research and analytics firm; Maher & Maher, a learning solutions provider; and ASCEND, a technology and information product company. As president, Enekwechi will oversee all program areas of IMPAQ’s companies.

Workshop: How to craft an MOU

Attend a brown-bag lunch workshop on the nuts and bolts of creating and using MOUs (memoranda of understanding). The workshop, which will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies, will be led by Vickie Miene, interim director of the Institute of Public Health Research and Policy at the UI College of Public Health.

2018 Iowa Public Health Heroes honored at awards event

On Wednesday, the 2018 Iowa Public Health Heroes Awards were awarded to Arlinda McKeen, recently retired from a 25-year career with the State Public Policy Group; Patricia Quinlisk, who served as the medical director and state epidemiologist at the Iowa Department of Public Health for 24 years until her retirement earlier this year; and Kara Vogelson, organizational development and research manager at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health.

Alumna Tina Freese Decker named next president and CEO of Spectrum Health

Tina Freese Decker (02MHA) has been appointed as Spectrum Health’s next president and chief executive officer by the Spectrum Health System Board of Directors. When she assumes her new responsibilities Sept. 1, 2018, she will lead a nonprofit health system comprising 12 hospitals, including Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, and 3,600 physicians and advanced practice providers, including 1,500 members of Spectrum Health Medical Group.

Alumnus Richard Breon named 2018 Business Person of the Year

Alumnus Richard C. Breon (80MA) was named 2018 Business Person of the Year at the Economic Club of Grand Rapids’ 31st Annual Dinner on June 18. Breon is president and CEO of Spectrum Health, the largest integrated health system in West Michigan.
