Pathways for the MPH in Policy
Several alumni of the University of Iowa College of Public Health currently work in the field of health policy at different organizations across the country, and many of them will help our graduates embark on their careers. Graduates of the MPH in Policy program have many employment options, including positions at governmental health agencies such as the CDC or the National Institutes of Health (NIH), or state and local health departments. They might also work in academic settings, such as university health sciences centers or hospitals, or in the private sector, such as pharmaceutical companies, managed care organizations and other health finance organizations.
“With the continued expansion of the health care system and the perennially evolving challenges of ensuring access to high-quality, cost-effective health services, the need for individuals with rigorous training in health policy analysis will continue to increase into the foreseeable future.”
“I see increasing opportunities for such graduates in not-for-profit health systems, research organizations, and government. Further, students in this program will be well-positioned to be competitive for doctoral programs in health policy and health services research.”
