Industrial Hygiene Program
The University of Iowa's Industrial Hygiene program trains students to recognize, evaluate, and control occupational and environmental hazards to prevent diseases and injuries.
The great strength of our program is the very broad training that students receive. The program includes courses and hands-on instruction on all the various types of occupational health hazards that industrial hygienists are responsible for controlling, but also includes instruction on safety, ergonomics, environmental health, toxicology, epidemiology and statistics.
Both the M.S. and Ph.D. tracks provide applied research training, which allows students to focus on specialized areas of interest. The program has had many graduates throughout its history that have become leaders in the field of occupational and environmental health, and made major contributions toward reducing disease and injury.
