Pathways in Health Policy

MS in Health Policy Career Pathways

Several alumni of the University of Iowa College of Public Health currently work in the field of health policy at different organizations across the country, and many of them will help our graduates embark on their careers. Graduates of the newly developed MS in Health Policy at Iowa should expect to be employed in academic institutions, government agencies, consulting firms, and other private and non-profit organizations directly involved with health policy analysis, research, formulations, and implementation.

“With the continued expansion of the health care system and the perennially evolving challenges of ensuring access to high-quality, cost-effective health services, the need for individuals with rigorous training in health policy analysis will continue to increase into the foreseeable future.”
Sue Curry, Ph.D, Former Dean, College of Public Health, The University of Iowa
“I see increasing opportunities for such graduates in not-for-profit health systems, research organizations, and government. Further, students in this program will be well-positioned to be competitive for doctoral programs in health policy and health services research.”
Andrew F. Coburn, Ph.D Professor (Research) and Director, Population Health and Health Policy, Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine
