Student Computing Labs Guidelines

Students at the College of Public Health enjoy several locations where they can access computers. With the College of Public Health labs students have access to many software applications and free printing. We do, however, have a few guidelines for using the student computing facilities at the College of Public Health.

Students are prohibited from eating or drinking in the College of Public Health computer labs. Doing so can result in a permant removal from the computer labs regardless of class participation. Eating and drinking in the lab can damage computer equipment.

Using the computer labs for projects other than school work is not recommended and should be kept to a minimum. Students doing school work will have priority over those who are not. The watching of DVDs and other non-class related material is prohibited in any of the computer labs. Anyone caught using the lab for a viewing room will be asked to leave the facility.

According to the University of Iowa Acceptable Use Policy, you agree not to use any computers on the University network to do anything inappropriate. If you violate this policy you will be asked to leave the computer labs. This policy is explained in detail within the Acceptable Use Policy. All materials viewed on these machines must be unoffensive to all people in the lab. Absolutely no viewing of pornographic materials is allowed at any time.

Students are prohibited from installing software on the lab machines in the college. If you should need an application installed on a lab machine please contact the IT Office at 4-3838 or by email at cph-support@uiowa.edu. Please make sure this software is for school-related material only.
