MS in Health Policy Experiential Learning

The MS in Health Policy offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to acquire insights into the practice of health policy and meet individuals involved with health policy issues. By participating in such diverse experiences, students can be more effectively prepared to embark on a health policy career pathway.

Students develop valuable professional and networking skills through summer internships, practicum, and post-graduate fellowships. Students are also expected to attend campus-based lectures and seminars concerning health policy issues that are routinely offered by the University Public Center and the College of Law, Medicine, and Public Health. Students also are expected to attend state and national conferences focusing on health policy.

This can include Iowa’s Rebalancing Healthcare in the Heartland forum and the national meeting of AcademyHealth.

AcademyHealth

The AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting brings together a wide variety of stakeholders leading the charge to transform delivery systems and health care in this rapidly changing landscape. Students can attend the ARM in order to learn about the latest emerging evidence, discover new methods and applications of rigorous and relevant methods, identify gaps and opportunities in research, connect with peers, expand their community, identify new collaborators, and enhance their understanding of the most pressing research policy issues.
