Is the Executive track solely online?
The program is delivered fully online with scheduled, real time (synchronous) class sessions. Students are required to attend virtual classes twice a week at designated times.
How many courses are required?
The EMHA track requires a total of 45 semester hours (s.h.) of graduate credit to complete the degree. These 45 credit hours correspond to approximately 17 courses, outlined in the EMHA Student Handbook’s standard plan of study.
Does the EMHA track require a thesis?
No, the UIowa EMHA is explicitly a non-thesis degree, so you won’t be required to complete a thesis or dissertation as part of the EMHA track.
What is the estimated total weekly commitment for coursework?
Students can expect to spend up to 10-20 hours each week on coursework, due to the condensed nature of the program.
When does the program start?
Onboarding communication and orientation activities will begin in July and classes will start mid-August.
Is the EMHA CAHME accredited?
Yes, the program is accredited by CAHME (Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education).
What is the application window for the EMHA?
Applications open in September through SOPHAS and are accepted until July 1st or until the cohort (20 students) becomes full.
What types of careers can EMHA graduates pursue?
Many graduates use it to move from operational or clinical roles into executive leadership roles including hospital administrators, health system strategists, public health leaders, and healthcare consultants.
